Geely subsidiary Zeekr reveals 009 minivan

Geely has certainly been making waves. Recently they unveiled their off-road lifestyle department Radar with the RD6 pick-up truck being their first entry. The RD6 is totally electric and targeting a younger and more nature-conscious customer.

This time Geely looks like they wanna get into the luxury MPV game and take on the likes of the Kia Carnival, Hyundai Staria, GAC GN8 and even the Toyota Alphard. And it's coming from Zeekr.

Say hello to the Zeekr 009 minivan.

Like the Philippines, China does have an affinity for luxury minivans; Toyota, after all, decided to reveal the ultra-luxurious LM minivan there. And of course, they like to have long wheelbase versions of everything.

The new vehicle is fully electric and, is being poised via the external design options to take on the competition in its segment. Coming in at a size of 5,209mm length, 2,024mm wide and 1,856mm tall, the EV Minivan will have a wheelbase of 3,205mm and a 2,830 kilo curb weight.

The Zeekr 009 will be using a dual-motor drive train where each motor has an output of 272 PS which in turn will have a total power of 534 PS. If the Zeekr 009 uses the same battery tech as their other offering, then it will be sporting the 100 kWh battery and will have a roughly 700 kilometer range.

The Zeekr 009 is becoming one of the most-talked about vehicles in the Chinese motoring industry nowadays and we are sure more details will be coming out soon. We will be monitoring this as like always as if, Geely decides to bring both the Radar RD6 pick-up truck and this Zeekr 009 minivan in our local market, the Chinese brand may have two more rising stars for their local line up here.

The Zeekr company is a subsidiary of the Geely and they are the one of the company’s divisions focused on research and development of Geely’s electric engines. Zeekr will be developing their own battery technology, battery management systems and the EV supply chain.

They will also be utilizing Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture or SEA platform. Zeekr vehicles will also have the capabilities to have software updates throughout it’s lifetime and even get them over the air. They are also a more upscale brand as compared to Radar’s younger and more hip image.

Zeekr has already released the Zeekr 001 which is the company’s very first SUV. The 001 is fully electric and is giving us some Porsche Cayenne vibes. It’s a great-looking SUV loaded with technology and the performance, as per their website, it top notch.

As to whether we'll see the Zeekr brand or the 009 in the Philippines, the answer is unlikely... for now.
